ECR Racing is the performance brake brand of ECR Brakes Ltd — a Norfolk-based brake engineering business that started as a specialist parts supplier and became a manufacturer, because the products we wanted to sell didn't exist at the standard we required.

How we got here.

ECR Brakes Ltd was founded over twenty years ago with a focus on performance and specialist brake parts. In the early years we supplied components from established manufacturers — sourcing the best available product for the cars our customers were building and running on track.

Over time it became clear that the products we wanted to supply — properly engineered 2-piece floating discs, matched big brake systems, quality carbon ceramic replacements — either didn't exist for the applications we needed, or weren't built to the standard we'd accept.

So we started making them ourselves. ECR Racing began as the own-brand manufacturing arm of ECR Brakes Ltd. Every product under the ECR Racing name is designed, specified and tested by us — not sourced from a catalogue and rebranded.

We're still based in Cawston, Norfolk, where we've always been. The business has grown but the approach hasn't changed: engineer it properly, test it on track, and don't release it until it's right.

History

More than twenty years in the making.

Early 2000s

ECR Brakes Ltd founded

Started as a specialist performance brake parts supplier in Norfolk, focusing on the growing performance and track day market. Sourcing the best available components from established European manufacturers.

Mid 2000s

First own-brand products

Identified gaps in the market for properly engineered 2-piece floating disc systems on popular performance platforms. Began developing own-specification products where the available options weren't good enough.

2010s

ECR Racing brand established

Formalised the own-brand manufacturing operation under the ECR Racing name. Extended the range to include big brake kits and carbon ceramic systems. Began exporting to European markets.

2020s

EV applications and continued expansion

Added fitment coverage for electric performance vehicles including Tesla Model 3 and Model Y Performance. Continued development of the 2-piece floating disc range across new platforms.

How we work

The principles behind the products.

These aren't marketing values. They're the practical decisions we make every time we develop a new product or specification.

Engineer to the application

Every ECR Racing system starts with the specific vehicle and its demands. We don't adapt a generic solution — we specify from scratch for the weight, power, wheel size and intended use of each application.

Specify the material, don't accept what's available

We write the specification for the alloys, iron grades and compounds we use. 7075-T6 aluminium over 6061-T6. High-carbon grey iron over standard grades. The right material for the job, not the cheapest available.

Test on track before release

Road testing shows whether a system works. Track testing shows whether it performs under sustained, repeated, high-temperature braking. Every ECR Racing system goes through both before it's released.

Inspect every unit

Every disc is dimensionally checked before despatch. Not batch sampled — every unit. Brake components have safety implications and we treat them accordingly.

Match the whole system

Caliper, disc, pad and bracket are developed together. A mismatched system can perform worse than a well-matched standard one. We supply the whole system or nothing.

Stand behind what we sell

Every ECR Racing product carries a 12-month warranty. Twenty years of trading is built on the reputation for getting it right — and fixing it if we don't.
